The classes were intense, the discussions passionate, the instructors first-rate and the weather and food unsurpassed at the July residency of the Ken Blanchard Executive MBA in San Diego. Held at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, the residency brought together students from the program’s three active cohorts for four days of classroom instruction, small-group discussion, seminars and interaction with Ken Blanchard. A Message from Dean Donaldson
An important message from Dean Kim Donaldson:
I wanted to share some very exciting news just received from ACBSP. Our EMBA has been officially accepted by ACBSP for accreditation. The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs is the leading specialized accreditation association for business education.
This is a significant achievement for our college and will enhance the value and prestige of our flagship program. As you know, accreditation is an important consideration for students as they decide which school to select and we anticipate this news will have a positive impact on future enrollment. I would like to thank those who contributed to this accomplishment, especially Tom Skochinski, Director of Graduate Programs, who spent an enormous amount of time preparing the formal request.
Congratulations to our students, faculty, staff and graduates on this important milestone.
Best wishes,

Kim Donaldson

A Note from Dr. Ken Blanchard
One of my favorite quotes is, “Every ending has a new beginning.”
As you know, this summer at our July residency Cohort 4 members ended their time in the program. My experience during this time is that students have mixed feelings. They are glad to get some of their nights and weekends back, but they are sad to lose the constant interaction with their cohort.
At the same time, Cohort 5 is halfway home. The end is in sight but there is still work to be done. Continue reading this post…

Faculty Focus: Dr. Ernie Scarbrough
Dr. Ernie Scarbrough is EMBA Associate Professor of Finance
Dr. Ernie Scarbrough went back to college at the same time his two sons prepared to graduate high school. How could he push his sons to attend college and get good grades when he had not finished his own degree? Going back to college sparked a love of education that pushed Dr. Scarbrough through his bachelors, masters and doctoral programs, and, after nearly 30 years in the corporate world, into a second career as a University finance instructor.
